Customer Reviews

We decided to try the canteen for our last night in the city, and we are so glad we did! We ordered the radicchio and apple salad, oysters, seared scallops, pan-fried haddock, and seafood chowder. The food was beautifully presented, the flavors were perfectly balanced, and there was absolutely no grit! Drinks were great. Before visiting, we checked out some reviews and were curious about the chowder, given some mixed feedback. It’s clear that those who were disappointed were expecting something like a canned seafood chowder. Don’t let the negative reviews deter you from this fantastic spot!
Had a great brunch of french toast with brie, walnuts, and pears, with friends having a variety of other dishes. You can order scrambled egg instead of the fried egg on the menu. They were very accommodating of some food sensitivities some of us had. Server was friendly and helpful and food was delicious.
Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants to try classic Canadian food with a fancy twist. We had a snow crab dip for appetizer and crobster roll and the risotto for the main. Everything that we ordered was delicious and the pricing was fair. One thing that I would comment to the dip was that I wished it came with a baguette or slices of focaccia but that’s just our preference.
