Customer Reviews

Sea Smoke Restaurant on the Halifax pier is an unforgettable dining experience, especially if you can snag one of their outdoor tables with a fire pit in the middle. We visited on a Monday night with a group of five and found ourselves wrapped in the cozy warmth of the fire and soft blankets they provided, despite the 12 to 13°C temperature. Though I was only wearing a T-shirt, between the fire’s glow and the blanket, I was more than comfortable, adding a special charm to the evening. The service was impeccable—our waitress was friendly, attentive, and more than happy to guide us through the menu. We started with appetizers, including the calamari, which I highly recommend. It was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. The aburi sushi was excellent as well, but the calamari really stole the show.
It was a good experience dining here. Even though there will be waiting time for the food to show up as they are busy most of the time, you won't be disappointed with the food (explained why they are always busy!). Since the restaurant is located right by the waterfront, it can be chilly but every table comes with a small fire pit lit up in the centre to keep people warm. They will also provide blankets from what I observed. Service was also great. I would recommend to try this place if you visit Halifax.
The food here was wonderful, with the Black Mamba sushi being a standout. The oysters were fresh and delicious, though the fish and chips weren’t my favorite (but others at the table enjoyed them). The atmosphere, both on the patio and inside, was fantastic—really sets the mood for a great dining experience. However, the service was just okay. We asked the waiter if they could make a specific drink, and when it arrived, it didn’t taste anything like it should have. When we asked about it, the waiter casually mentioned they had to substitute a couple of ingredients, which I think should have been communicated before making the drink. It was disappointing, and I ended up having to send it back. Overall, I’d go back for the food and atmosphere, but the service could use some improvement, especially when it comes to handling requests like this.
