Quails’ Gate Winery: A Legacy of Excellence

Four Generations of Farming Tradition

Our family’s roots in the Okanagan Valley date back to 1908, when Richard Stewart Sr. settled in the area. Over a century later, we continue to uphold our founding principles and values, blending tradition with innovation.

Pioneers in Canadian Viticulture

We proudly farm 160 acres of vineyards, featuring some of the country’s most mature vinifera plantings. Our commitment to research and improvement has established us as leaders in Canadian viticulture practices.

A Family Affair

Quails’ Gate Winery was founded in 1989 by Dick Stewart, his son Ben, and Ben’s wife Ruth. Today, the entire Stewart family is involved in crafting premium BC VQA wines that consistently exceed expectations.

Our Story

  • 1908: Richard Stewart Sr. settles in the Okanagan Valley

Customer Reviews

This was one of the most exceptional meals I’ve had in British Columbia. We were seated outside with a phenomenal view of the vineyard and lake. Our servers Shane and Curtis were both fantastic and really attentive throughout our meal. The food was exceptional, in particular the Veal Cheek. We also had a glass of the pairing wine for each of our courses and it worked perfectly. We visiting several other vineyards during our stay and this was by far the best!
Pictures do not do this justice! We were served by Nathan who gave us a great experience and shared his knowledge on the Okanagan Valley. The food was excellent, along with the wine and views. Thank you Nathan!
We went to happy hour during the week and sat out on the patio. What a beautiful, relaxing location after work! The vineyard spreads out beside you and the main winery building and gardens are all around you. Everything is manicured and perfectly picturesque. We chose to split the charcuterie board and with that you choose 2 cheeses from a selection to be included. It was amazing and came with mini slices of toasted sourdough bread. One of us had a rose wine and the other a frosty raspberry lemonade, both were refreshing and perfect for the warm summer evening. If you are visiting the Okanagan and traveling the wine trails, this beautiful location is one to see and stop to try. This is not a low end menu for pricing. The happy hour menu does have some more affordable options if you want to try out some of the decadence for a treat too. And if there are any non drinkers in the crowd, they have some lovely mocktails like the raspberry lemonade in addition to the well known award winning wines. The scenery and view of Okanagan Lake is outstanding and the service is superb.
