The InFerno’s Story: A Legacy of Culinary Excellence

Three Generations of Passion

Our story begins with Fern Kirouac Sr., a classically trained French chef who owned and operated beloved Winnipeg restaurants in the 70’s and 80’s. His legacy lives on through his son, Fern Jr., and grandsons, Chris and Zack, who continue to serve authentic, unforgettable culinary experiences.

A New Chapter

In 2003, Fern Jr. opened InFerno’s Bistro in St. Boniface, earning it the title of Winnipeg’s Premier Bistro. A second location, InFerno’s on Academy, followed in 2012. Both venues boast inventive menus, extensive wine lists, and warm family atmospheres, complemented by live jazz performances.

Customer Reviews

Dinner was outstanding and our server was fantastic. We ordered the lamb shank and the beef shank special. Both were superb. The Lamb didn't have a hint of gameyness and the beef fell off the bone. The sides were all delicious, and the French onion soup was salty and so tasty! My old fashioned was made with bullet and was great with the meal. My only complaint was I didn't have room for the desserts which looked SO good!! The restaurant is small, bordering between cozy and crowded, but the outdoor patio looks like it will be spectacular when it opens in the spring. I will definitely be making a trip back!
We started with a Kilter Juicy and some bison spring rolls. Then we had the butternut squash ravioli and the braised lamb shank. Both phenomenal.
My fiancee and I love to go here. Some solid French cuisine with a cozy atmosphere. We especially like the patio while getting a bottle of prosecco. The price is reasonable for the quality you're getting. Would recommend setting up a reservation, although we have walked in unannounced before. Parking may be limited.
