Customer Reviews

Walking into Highwayman felt like stumbling into a local bar with an upscale flair. The drinks were excellent, subtle and inventive, and the atmosphere was warm, friendly, and inviting. I was particularly blown away by the food, though. Whoever is behind this menu and the choices being made- bravo; you made me want to cook turnips at home (a feat). I will be back any time I’m in Halifax, and wish I could share this spot with friends and family.
I love this restaurant. It's my second time here. Let me start by saying the 4* on service is not the fault of our server, she was great (as I spilled my own $16 cocktail on myself as soon as she put it down, and then got me another for free). The lack of 5 stars on the service is due to the fact that I received 4 separate communications on my reservation (1. Confirmation text, 2. Confirmation text of dinner in 2 hours 3. Confirmation of dinner in 30min, then 4. A notice that I only get 2hrs to dine). It was just a bit overbearing. The food - I think this is my favourite restaurant in Halifax. It crushes Drift. What looks like an English pub, is putting out some seriously good food. It's all small plates and the smoked fish on crostini I had to order twice it was that good. The diner with me said the carrots was his dish of the night. I will return here again and again when in Halifax. Sorry for spilling my drink.
What a cute little spot for an intimate dinner! The tapas options were great to share with each other. Everything was delicious. Our waiter was really nice and attentive too. They also have a nice bar area to get drinks either before or after dinner. Will definitely go back!
