Customer Reviews

Delicious Japanese cuisine! They have a big menu and food you don’t see at other Japanese restaurants. It covers plenty of Japanese dishes you would try only in Japan. The owner was super nice and helpful! I wanted to try everything so it gives me an opportunity to go back! Prices are very fair too.
The food was so good I kept eating even though I was full already. I need to thank the chef for gracing this earth. I got the items from the June special menu: Himmel’s Favourite Omelette and the Merker’s Milk Pudding. The omelette was so good and the portion was huge, definitely worth the price. The honey and milk pudding was so refreshing, I wanted to order another one. Big giant kisses for each member of staff, even went to the gift shop upstairs to commemorate the food I ate.
What an absolute GEM of a restaurant. I am visiting from Montreal for the week and have completely fallen in love with this place after only one visit. I'm so glad I'm here for a few more days because it means I'll get to go again 🤤 The best way I can describe this is a Japanese greasy spoon restaurant. People from Quebec will know what I mean. It's completely authentic and everything I tried was super well done. Winnipeg, you have something truly special here and I hope you know it. This Montrealer can only DREAM of having a restaurant like Dwarf no Cachette back home! Edit: I want to say that I went back for the Ramen and thought it was ok. If I am honest, it left a little bit to be desired, but I can understand, as it's not this restaurant's main specialty. The other stuff I tried was incredible though and still cannot recommend this place enough if you're in Winnipeg!
