Perched on the picturesque Protection Island, The Dinghy Dock Pub & Restaurant has been a beloved Nanaimo landmark since 1989. As Canada’s only registered floating pub, we offer a one-of-a-kind experience that combines stunning views, a relaxed atmosphere, and mouth-watering pub fare.

A Rich History

Originally designed as a marina, our pub has evolved over the years. From humble beginnings with a bait shop and kitchen wall orders to three expansions, including patios, a family area, and an enlarged kitchen. Our docks now accommodate vessels of all sizes, from kayaks to 50′ sailboats.

I have always loved this place ! For many years the dingy dock has been a staple on the island of Culebra. It has transitioned from a slightly more party hang out with great food to an excellent establishment to dine with your friends and family. The owners take great pride in bringing fresh high quality food to an island that has many supply chain barriers. I recommend getting there early because the tables fill up fast. I can personally recommend the tuna entree which was 6-8 oz of high quality tuna with excellent sides. Culebra is truly an amazing Island and I will be looking forward to my margarita at the dingy dock next year :)

Our Halibut & Chips and Prawn Salad were delicious. Great experience with the ferry, pirate atmosphere/decor and beautiful views of the bay, Nanaimo and Mt. Benson. A must-go if you're visiting for a few days and can afford 2-3 hours for food and ferry.

I love the views, the staff, the food and even the boat ride to get to the restaurant... Honestly this is one of my favourit places for drinks. The views are amazing and I looove the fact that you can buy their signature cocktails by the pitcher. It honestly feels like summer when you're sitting on their patio.
